Mr. Balzarini completed his business and economic studies at the University of Zurich in 1996, and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago (Ill., USA) in 2002. Professional experience: From mid-1993 to 1996, Mr Balzarini worked at the Swiss banking company in Zurich in the fields of corporate banking and business development. From 1997 to 2006 he worked at the Swiss Reinsurance Company in the fields of risk and project management, strategy development and asset management, most recently as managing director, responsible for the development of the indirect, international property portfolio. Chris Drula

Christopher Drula is Senior Vice President of Financial Standards at Nareit. In this role, Drula is responsible for evaluating accounting and financial reporting proposals issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). Prior to joining Nareit in 2010, Drula was a senior manager in PwC’s Banking and Capital Markets Practice where he provided audit and accounting advisory services to large publicly traded financial institutions that prepared financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS. During his time at PwC, Drula completed a two-year rotation in PwC’s National Office where he provided technical accounting guidance on financial instruments, fair value measurements, consolidation, and securitization. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Spanish, summa cum laude, at King’s College. He holds his CPA license in PA, VA, and NJ and is a member of the AICPA, PICPA, and VSCPA.


Nicolas Dutreuil

A Dauphine and Sorbonne graduate, with a postgraduate DESS in banking and finance, as well as a postgraduate DESCF in accounting and finance, Nicolas Dutreuil began his career at KPMG Audit, before moving to the Investment Banking Department at Calyon, where he stayed from 1999 to 2006. From 2006 to 2009, he was Head of Operations and Finance for Dolmea Real Estate, then Head of Investment Banking at Crédit Suisse. From 2009 to 2013, Nicolas Dutreuil was Deputy Finance Director at Icade, where his responsibilities included mergers-acquisitions, financing, cash management and investor relations. Nicolas Dutreuil joined Gecina in September 2013 as Chief Financial Officer before becoming Deputy CEO in charge of Finance in March 2019. He was awarded the Pierre d'Or 2020 in the "Financial Engineering" category.

Philip Grosse has held the position of CFO on the Management Board of Vonovia SE since January 2022. Philip Grosse has held leading positions with a focus on corporate finance and investor relations for the Deutsche Wohnen Group since 2013. Avni is currently a partner within PwC’s Accounting Consulting Services (ACS) group which provides IFRS and UK GAAP accounting advice both internally and to external clients. Vanessa is the Chief Financial Officer for Land Securities plc, having joined the board on the 4th May 2021. Stephane Tortajada

Stéphane Tortajada has joined Klépierre as Executive Board member and Chief Financial Officer since June 22, 2022. He has over 25 years’ experience in finance and real estate. He has assumed leadership roles in fields like mergers and acquisitions, financing, capital markets and asset management, having worked both in investment banking institutions, notably Lazard, and most recently as the group head of finance and investment of the energy group EDF for twelve years. Laurent Fessmann

Laurent Fessmann heads the Banking & Finance practice at Baker McKenzie Luxembourg. He has 22 years’ experience in business law and started his career in 1996 as in-house counsel in a French CAC40 listed company, where he worked intensively on LBO transactions, capital markets and corporate law matters. He founded his own firm in August 2009 and established the Baker McKenzie Luxembourg office one year later. Laurent is a banking & finance lawyer who specializes in lending transactions and regulatory assistance, both at domestic and foreign level. Besides that, Laurent is also active in the capital markets area and is praised for his structured finance experience. Giuseppe Andrea joined Chiomenti Studio Legale in 1997, became a partner in 2003 heading the tax department through 2009. Before Chiomenti, Giuseppe Andrea worked from 1992 with Arthur Andersen tax department in Milan. Ruud Vogelaar is Group Director of Tax at Unibail-Rodamco, based in Schiphol (Netherlands). He is a qualified Dutch CPA and has a degree in Law from the Dutch Open University. He worked at the Dutch tax authorities for nearly 17 years, the bigger part of that working within the insurance industry. After that, he worked for some 8 ½ years as an in-house tax counsel at a family office in Amsterdam, in which role he was mainly involved in real estate investments. He joined Rodamco Europe in December 2006, and is Group Director of Tax at Unibail-Rodamco since the merger between Rodamco and Unibail in June 2007.

Edward joined Landsec in 2007 as Head of Investor Relations. Before joining Landsec, he worked for The Boots Company for 14 years in a variety of roles. He joined The Boots Company in 1993 as an economist and helped to develop rental forecasting models for Boots Properties PLC. Edward joined the finance department in 2000 as an analyst in the Investor Relations department. In 2002 he moved to the Group Finance department and managed the performance reporting team responsible for the analysis and reporting of the trading performance of the company. Herman is responsible for Investor Relations at Belgian REIT Montea . Prior to joining Montea in June 2023, Herman has been active for more than 30 years in listed real estate, mainly as sell-side analyst and portfolio manager at ING and Degroof Petercam; before joining Montea, Herman was for ten years the lead real estate analyst at Degroof Petercam covering c. 15 European REITs. Herman holds a master’s degree in economics & finance (Ingénieur Commercial) at ICHEC-ISC Saint Louis (Brussels) and is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA – ABAF/BVFA). Herman is CFA Charterholder since 2003. Alex has been involved in research and transactions in the global listed real estate sector for over 30 years. His career has encompassed award-winning sell side research (BZW), investment banking (CSFB), private equity (Apax Partners Capital), and fund management. He formed AME Capital in 2002, which developed a proprietary database and analytical tool for all listed real estate companies and real estate securities funds globally. This business was sold to Macquarie Securities in 2008, where he stayed for over three years as Head of Global Property Securities Analytics. He formed Consilia Capital, a real estate investment advisory firm, in 2012, and has developed an international institutional client base, as well as publishing regularly in academic journals. Consilia Capital produces a monthly publication, based on the performance of real estate, infrastructure and real asset funds, which features academic papers of interest to practitioners. He is a member of the EPRA Research Committee, the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of European Real Estate Research, and was Chairman of the IPF Research Steering Group which sponsored the report on Real Estate Allocations within DC Pension Schemes in the UK. He is an advisor to Investec Asset Management, working with the Multi-Asset team, and is Chairman of the Investment Committee for the Investec GSF Global Real Estate Securities Fund, which he has been involved with since inception. As executive director of the European Real Estate Society (ERES) he has played a leading role in establishing the twice yearly ERES Industry Seminar from 2003 and the annual ERES Education Seminar from 2005. Hans Op ‘t Veld is Head of Listed Real Estate at PGGM Investments.He is the Fund Manager responsible for PGGM’s global listed real estate securities portfolio of € 12.5 billion. Hans was a partner with Global Property Research (GPR), a company specialized in strategy, benchmarking and performance measurement of listed property companies, from its start in 1996.
