What is a REIT?

REITs are recognised as an effective structure to finance and manage listed real estate and are a key feature of the majority of the world's developed investment jurisdictions. At EPRA we believe that the rise of REITs, which maximise the flow of long-term rental income stream to pension funds and private investors saving for retirement, will gather further momentum.

The REIT structure varies country-by-country, and it is constantly evolving. Below is an analysis of global REITs as of September 2016. The survey is published every September.

Global REIT Survey

The Global REIT Survey brings together the latest regulations and requirements set by country legislators of REITs around the world. It is currently updated annually.
